5 Headlines for You

In the world of marketing, your first impression — your headline — can lead to either sales success … or failure.

It’s important to realize that headlines work best when they appeal to your reader’s interests (not yours). And not only can they *grab attention*, they can also make your message easy to read, convey your main selling points, and lead your customer to a sale.

Over the years copywriting pros have used several headline formulas that always work well. Here are my fab five:

“5 Ways to Keep Learning and Growing – Even on a Tight Budget”

I recently received a long letter from one of my readers – whom I’ll call “Amy” — that went something like this, “Ali, I see you’re now charging beaucoup bucks for your coaching programs and to mentor with you. No question you are worth thousands of dollars to work with! But I feel really stuck. You see, I am down to my last dime. You emphasize how important it is to keep learning and growing… and to have a mentor, but how can someone like me do this when there’s no money to invest?”

Ah yes, Amy, believe me, I remember what that was like. In fact, things got so bad when I first started my business back in New York 10 years ago that there was one evening I couldn’t even take out $20 from the ATM. (And even if I did have cash to spend, I didn’t know where to find a mentor anyway.)

So what’s a girl to do when she’s on a budget?

“What’s In Your Marketing Funnel?”

A past client of mine, whom I’ll call “Mary,” was a financial planner. She’d had a Web site for a few years that pretty much served as an online brochure for her. When Mary came to me, she was looking for other ways to generate income besides working directly with clients.

During our first conversation I introduced her to the MARKETING FUNNEL. If you picture a funnel, you know it’s wide and open at the top, and tiny and narrow at the bottom. At the top of the funnel is where you want to get as MANY prospects in as possible. At the bottom of the funnel is your HIGHEST PRICED service or product. And in the middle are in-between levels of services/products and prices.

So as you go down the funnel, the products are priced higher and higher, and the idea is to keep people flowing down from the top to the bottom.

“How to Charge More and Work Less”

I remember when I first launched my first business as a copywriter years ago, I had no clue what to charge. Without putting hard thought into what type of results my work gave my clients, I started out with an hourly rate that didn’t scare ME! I would still even stutter when I said to clients, “My rate is si- si- si- sixty dollars an hour.”

Deep down, I wasn’t confident in myself, so of course I wouldn’t let myself charge more. And of course, as a result I attracted lame clients, worked like a dog, and stayed broke all the time.

Well, things are VERY different today! As just one example, I have no problem sharing that membership in the Diamond tier of my Millionaire Protege Club is $100,000 and Platinum is $18,000, and there is an intense application process. (And we just closed 2009 membership to both tiers as they are full to capacity!)

“7 Steps to Launching a New Product, Program, or Service… for TONS of Sales”

When I teach one of my Online Success Blueprint Workshops, the section that gets my attendees most excited is when I walk them through an actual product launch.

What’s a launch?

It’s when you release a new product, program, or service for the first time to your mailing list. A launch is a super opportunity to rack up a TON of sales in a short amount of time.

I basically have seven steps to a launch. In my workshops, I walk through them in great detail and include actual examples and results. But to get you started, here’s a brief description of each (Click here to read more…)
